| Police are analysing physical evidence collected from the hotel room of Shane Keith Warne, to confirm his friends' statements that nothing suspicious happened. Warne's body is being sent to the forensic laboratory at Surat Thani Hospital for analysis.

สัญชาติออสเตรเลีย อดีตกัปตันคริกเก็ตทีมชาติออสเตรเลีย นอนไม่รู้สึกตัวในโรงแรมที่หมู่ 5 ต.บ่อผุด อ.เกาะสมุย จ.สุราษฎร์ธานี เมื่อเย็นวันที่ 4 มีนาคม โดยเพื่อนที่พบและเจ้าหน้าที่กู้ภัยได้ทำการ cpr ปฐมพยาบาลและเสียชีวิตในเวลาต่อมา เบื้องต้นจากการตรวจสอบตามร่างกายไม่พบบาดแผลภายนอก และภายในห้องพักไม่มีร่องรอยการรื้อค้นนั้น
| Progress is made in the case of Australian citizen Mr Shane Keith Warne, aged 52, who was formerly captain of the Australian national cricket team. He was found lying unconsious in his hotel room in Village 5, Bophut Subdistrict, Koh Samui District, Surat Thani Province, late in the afternoon on the 4th of March. First aid and CPR were performed, both by the friends who found him and by an ambulance crew. Warne died soon after. A preliminary examination of Warne's body did not reveal any external wounds, and there were no signs that his room had been searched for objects to steal.
| เมื่อเวลา 13.30 น. วันที่ 5 มีนาคม ร.ต.อ.คุณวุฒิ ตะเภาน้อย ร้อยเวรกลุ่มงานตรวจสถานที่เกิดเหตุ ศูนย์พิสูจน์หลักฐาน 8 ได้นำเครื่องมือพร้อมอุปกรณ์เข้าตรวจสอบเพื่อเก็บหลักฐานในห้องพักโรงแรมที่เกิดเหตุ โดยพบว่าที่บนพรมปลายเตียงพบกองเลือด 2 กอง ผ้าขนหนูเปื้อนเลือด 3 ผืน และบนที่นอนมีหมอน 1 ใบ มีคราบเลือด จากการทดสอบในเบื้องต้นพบว่าเป็นเลือดมนุษย์ จึงได้ทำการเก็บหลักฐาน นอกจากนั้นยังพบขวดน้ำดื่ม 2 ขวด ถูกวางอยู่บนหัวเตียง มี 1 ขวดถูกดื่มน้ำไปจนหมด ส่วนอีกขวดยังเหลือน้ำประมาณครึ่งขวด จึงได้เก็บตัวอย่างน้ำและคราบน้ำลายที่ปากขวดเพื่อนำไปตรวจสอบเปรียบเทียบดีเอ็นเอ
| At 1.30pm on 5th March, Police Captain Khunawuti Tapaonoi, the duty officer at Police Forensic Science Centre 8 on the mainland in Surat Thani, arrived at the hotel room with tools and equipment to conduct a forensic search. Two patches of blood were found on a rug at the end of the bed, as well as three blood-stained washcloths, and on the bed there was a pillow with traces of blood. Preliminary analyses revealed the blood to be human, so samples were taken for testing. Apart from this, two bottles of water were found at the head of the bed. One bottle had been drunk completely, while the other bottle was still half full. The bottles, with traces of saliva on their rims, were taken into evidence for DNA testing.

| There were no signs of forced entry, or that the room had been searched. Everything on the bed looked normal apart from the blood-stained pillow.
| ด้าน พล.ต.ต.สาธิต พลพินิจ ผบก.ภ.จว.สุราษฎร์ธานี กล่าวว่า หลังเกิดเหตุชุดสืบสวน สภ.บ่อผุด ได้เร่งเข้าตรวจสอบกล้องวงจรปิดบริเวณเส้นทางรอบๆ โรงแรมที่พักยังไม่พบสิ่งผิดปกติ และจากการเชิญเพื่อนของผู้เสียชีวิต 4 คน ซึ่งเป็นผู้พบเหตุขณะที่นายเชนหมดสติอยู่ในห้องพักก็ยังไม่พบพิรุธ
| Police Major General Satit Polpinit, the commander of the Surat Thani provincial police, said that officers from Bophut Police Station had reviewed hotel CCTV footage as a matter of urgency, and nothing unusual was found. Warne's four friends, the ones who discovered him unconscious in his room, told police they had not seen anything suspicious.

| "As for the large amount of blood in the room," Major General Satit explained, "police asked friends of the deceased about this. The friends said that they tried to restart Warne's heart before hospital paramedics arrived. This is consistent with paramedics' statements that, when they arrived and started doing CPR, the deceased coughed up blood. Nevertheless, Mr Warne's body is being sent to the forensic laboratory at Surat Thani Hospital, to confirm the cause of death and investigate whether there are residues of blood in his windpipe."

Police Major General Satit Polpinit, the commander of Surat Thani provincial police, also told the local media there had been blood and vomit found in Warne’s room, though police said they had been told by friends the bleeding had occurred as a result of the desperate attempts to revive him.
“A large amount of blood was found in the room,” Polpinit told Thai newspaper Matichon. “When CPR was started, the deceased had coughed up liquid and was bleeding”.
Police said there was no suspicion of foul play and that the room had not been disturbed.
